October 2019 Reads

The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware: I wanted to love this one, but it ended up falling flat for me. It was intriguing and suspenseful at first, but then quickly became predictable, and left me with a lot of questions and loose ends. It came well recommended by a lot of people, but for me, it was just ok.

Ask Again, Yes by Mary Beth Keane: I absolutely adored this book. It was emotionally triggering for me at times, but I loved the book from start to finish and didn’t want it to end. I didn’t know much about the book before I got it, (I had seen it all over Instagram, but didn’t know anything about the storyline) and I am so glad I did! I usually gravitate towards crime/suspense novels, but I am so glad I picked this one up. I ended up buying a copy, which is something I rarely do with fiction novels, but I know I want to reread this one and have it in my personal collection!

Lock Every Door by Riley Sager: This one tried to take a weird turn near the end, but I ultimately ended up enjoying it! It built the story and suspense really well, and the ending was not overly predictable. I would recommend this one if you like twisty thrillers!

Three Women by Lisa Taddeo: I didn’t know much about this one going into it (another Instagram suggestion) but I found it fascinating, mostly because it explored female sexuality in scenarios I haven’t been apart of. Even still, I was able to relate to the women and was interesting to see how the female mind rationalizes sexuality and relationships.

That’s it for October! I already have a stack I’m working through for November so check back next month for more of my reads! What books have you read lately? I would love to know!
