The Villa
The Villa by Rachel Hawkins
My rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️
This was my first thriller in a hot minute, and it did not disappoint! Our female main characters are childhood best friends who have grown apart. They agree to a summer at a villa in Italy to reconnect when they learn about the house's dark history.
In the 1970s, five friends vacation there for a summer of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. One ends up dead, one ends up in jail for the murder, and two go on to achieve success and fame, one as an author and one as a musician.
I loved the suspense the author builds throughout the book, and the duel timeline storytelling helps create that. I found myself wanting to know more about whatever timeline I was reading before it would switch to the other, making it a hard book to put down!
If you’re looking for a summer thriller that keeps you guessing, definitely check this one out.
