Lavender

Lavender is seriously the Swiss Army Knife of essential oils! There are so many uses for Lavender oil, from skin support, relaxation, sleep support and more. Most people know the lavender scent and have experienced it at some point in their lives. Unlike the synthetic, perfume-grade scent people associate with lavender, lavender essential oil has a floral, calming scent. It is one of Young Living’s most popular oils for a reason! Fun fact: Lavender oil is distilled from the lavender plant (Lavandula angustifolia) and it takes 27 square feet of lavender plants to make one 15-mL bottle of lavender!

Quick Uses

Relax and Unwind

Rough day? Run a nice, warm bath and add a few drops of Lavender. Pour a cup of tea or a glass of wine, read a book or catch up on a show and relax. No time for a bath? Add a drop or two into the palm of your hand, rub them together and inhale deeply.

Bye, Bye, Boo-Boos

For minor cuts and scrapes, add a drop or two directly to the area for skin support. It’s also great mixed with a drop or two of Frankincense for scars and wrinkles

Fresh Linens

Ditch the dryer sheets and add a couple of drops of Lavender to your wool dryer balls when you dry your sheets and towels. You’ll get dreamy smelling sheets that will lull you off to sleep. Want an extra scent boost? Make a linen spray by adding 5-10 drops of Lavender to a glass spray bottle, a splash of witch hazel and then fill the rest with water. Shake it up, and spray on linens, pillows, and crib sheets!

Too Much Fun in the Sun

If your time in the sun has left you feeling a little too crispy, lavender is great to help take the sting away! Mix a few drops into your favorite lotion and rub it into your skin. Check out Young Living’s Lavender Lotion for a ready-made option!

Seasonal Support

Is everything covered in pollen? Add 1-2 drops each of Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint into an empty vegetable capsule and take as a supplement as needed. You can also add a drop or two of each oil onto a spoon, or mixed with a little bit of honey if you don’t have vegetable capsules on hand.

Pesky Bugs

If the summer bugs are leaving their marks on your skin, mix 10 drops of Lavender and 10 drops of Purification in a 10-mL roller, and top with a carrier oil (I love fractionated coconut oil or jojoba oil-check out my favorite oil supplies here). Roll this combination on any itchy spots to help give you some relief! Stung by a bee? Add a drop of Lavender right on the spot to help take away the sting!

Luscious Lashes

Want lashes for days? Add a drop or two of Lavender oil to your favorite mascara to help them grow longer and fuller. Need a more-natural lash serum?  In a 1-oz glass dropper bottle, add around 10-15 drops of Lavender oil and fill the rest with pure castor oil. Use a spoolie to apply to your lashes. This mixture will also help you fill in your over-plucked eyebrows!

In the Kitchen

Lavender is also available with a Vitality label, signifying it’s safe for ingestion. Use it in all of your favorite recipes! Add a drop of Lavender to your lemonade or mix into cookies and frostings!
